| A Word from
the President
It is my great
pleasure to report to you that the 2nd
International Congress of Biological Psychiatry,
17 - 21 April 2007 in Santiago de Chile has been a
major success. It was a truly international event
with 79 countries participating and with over 2200
registered attendees who enjoyed 91 high quality
scientific sessions (1 Opening Lecture, 4 Plenary
Lectures, 5 Workshops on the WFSBP Treatment
Guidelines, 3 Debates, 49 Symposia, 23 Free
Communications, and 6 Satellite Symposia) and
additionally 30 Guided Poster Tours with over 400
Posters.
The 2nd
International Congress of Biological Psychiatry is
the largest event on psychiatry held in the recent
years in Chile and even in Latin America. Thus we
achieved to further foster and stimulate
Biological Psychiatry in Latin America and
world-wide.
On behalf of the
WFSBP Executive Committee I wish to thank the
National Societies of Biological Psychiatry for
their dedication and valuable contribution to the
major success of this event. We would also like to
take the opportunity to acknowledge the
outstanding work of so many Speakers and
Presenters who shared their research findings and
experience with the attendees.
The congress has
also been very enjoyable and pleasant in regards
to social activities, with the highlight of the
Congress Party attended by over 400
participants.
The official
congress website www.wfsbp2007.org will be kept
online for one further year to enable you and
colleagues who were not able to participate to
view abstracts and track down topics of
interest.
On this occasion let
me draw your attention to the next WFSBP Congress.
Again, an imposing setting and a wonderful blend
of scientific sessions and social events await you
in Paris from 28 June - 2 July 2009. The Call for
Symposia Proposals will be opened in the beginning
of 2008. You will receive detailed information in
time.
Sincerely yours,
Siegfried Kasper,
MD WFSBP
