| A Word from the President
It is a great pleasure
for me to be introducing Psych-e, the electronic
newsletter that provides you with an overview of
all latest news related to the World Federation's
initiatives.
As our organisation
keeps evolving and developing innovative activities,
we feel a need for our members and supporters to
receive some highlights on new developments that
will help our distinguished community share expertise
and best practices in biological psychiatry. Since
its creation in 1974, it has always been the World
Federation's mission to help biological psychiatry
professionals identify ways to treat and try to
overcome mental conditions and disseminate relevant
information to the worldwide neuroscience community.
Psych-e was created
in the same spirit of supplying information and
guidance to all institutions, societies or individuals
with an interest in biological psychiatry.
We hope that you
will enjoy this new initiative of the World Federation
of Societies of Biological Psychiatry.
Siegfried Kasper,
MD

Feature Forums
The
Feature Forums – representing an electronic
WFSBP think-tank - are the newest attraction to
both complement and enhance WFSBP’s existing
on-line features and benefits. The first area of
this live debate arena is the Feature – compiled
according to input and suggestions from our newly
appointed Feature Forum Editorial Experts. The
content of each feature will focus on a topic of
hot and broad interest to provoke live and interactive
debate upon entering the Forum zone – chaired,
monitored and managed by our Web Editor to ensure
lively interaction and focus.

This month's Feature Forum
compiled by Prof. Norio Ozaki, WFSBP Associate
Secretary-Treasurer, is entitled, “Gene-environmental interaction
in mental disorders: to reform the new diagnostic
system” and is now online, live and ready
to receive you as a visitor!
Members and non-members
can both access the Forum and participate in lively
debates at www.wfsbp.org
Committees & Task
Forces
The WFSBP Executive Committee is proud to
announce that the composition of the World Federation's
Committees and Task Forces has been fully re-worked
to better ensure a successful running of key WFSBP
initiatives (such as the production of Treatment
Guidelines). All the details related to the new
Committees and Task Forces can be found on the
WFSBP web site.
The Federation thanks all the eminent psychiatrists
who accepted to provide the community a valuable
contribution through their involvement in one of
these groups.
