June 2006 - n° 2
A Word from the President

With this 2nd Psych-e issue, it is a great pleasure for me to share with you some excellent developments related to WFSBP programmes.

Indeed, as the preparation of the Santiago and Paris Congresses is coming along very positively, we have just launched the 3rd round of Feature Forums and also have received excellent news on the World Journal's Impact Factor which has been evaluated for the first time, as you will read from the announcements below.

In addition, we are proud to announce that the WFSBP Leadership has engaged into a programme meant to increase collaboration with our distinguished Member Societies with the purpose to enhance our relationships with every single member in all countries. It is our mission and goal to provide a platform where biological psychiatry knowledge and understanding can be shared and bring light to central questions on Psychiatry.

We hope that you will be as excited as we are about all these developments, and are looking forward to continually advancing biological psychiatry hand in hand with you in the present and future.

Siegfried Kasper, MD
WFSBP President

Feature Forums
We are pleased to announce that this month's WFSBP Feature Forum: Is there a cure for cocaine addicts?, compiled by Dietmar Winkler, M.D., Dept. of General Psychiatry, Medical University of Vienna (Austria), is now live and open.

As you will read once you click on the Feature Forum banner at: www.wfsbp.org, a recent study suggests effective treatment, but is it truly realisitc to think that we can find a cure soon?

Would you like to take the opportunity to communicate your concerns surrounding this timely topic?

Join the debate now by reviewing this month's Feature and posting your opinion and thoughts directly in the Forum zone. Only by stimulating the debate can we hope to address some of the many unresolved questions. Is there a cure for cocaine addicts? is now live and ready to receive your personal input!

For those of you who are as of yet unfamiliar with the Feature Forums debate arena, why risk missing out? Please either click directly on the banner above (or visit and bookmark our website www.wfsbp.org) and select the menu tab "About Feature Forums", for further information.

Our community looks forward to reading your contribution as a regular visitor to the WFSBP Feature Forums!

The World Journal of Biological Psychiatry

Impact Factor
We are extremely proud to announce that due to the impressively high scientific level of published articles, The World Journal of Biological Psychiatry achieved an impact factor of 2.800. To give you an impression of the standing of this impact factor, it is on a similar level to that of Schizophrenia Bulletin (2.871), Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica (2.968) and very close to European Neuropsychopharmacology (3.510). The World Journal of Biological Psychiatry is ranked 31 of 94 journals in the field of psychiatry (Source: 2005 JCR Science Edition).

This is a wonderful success. We wish to thank the Chief Editor Prof. Hans-Jürgen Möller, the whole Editorial Board, as well as the publisher Taylor and Francis for their hard work and invaluable commitment, and also wish to acknowledge all the authors who contributed to making The World Journal such a recognized and prominent international publication.

We hope these very impressive results will encourage eminent colleagues from all over the globe to keep publishing their work in The World Journal of Biological Psychiatry. For more information on how to submit articles please visit the Publication page of the WFSBP web site.
