Dear Colleague, by the end of the year 2006 it gives me great pleasure to thank you for your dedication to the World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry (WFSBP). As WFSBP President and in the name of the WFSBP Executive Committee, I am delighted to report to you a very successful year 2006: The WFSBP Committees and Task Forces have been completely revised and reworked in order to achieve a high number on publications of WFSBP Treatment Guidelines. In the year 2006 Part 2 of the Schizophrenia Treatment Guidelines and a Consensus Paper on Biological Markers of Dementia have been published in the World Journal of Biological Psychiatry. For the year 2007 Treatment Guidelines are planned for: Dementia, Personality Disorders, Eating Disorders, Addiction, Unipolar Depression for the General Practioner and a Consensus Paper on Biological Markers of Schizophrenia. All published Treatment Guidelines are available online for downlodad. We invite you to have a look online at www.wfsbp.org The first ever impact factor for the World Journal of Biological Psychiatry has been announced in June 2006. The impact factor of 2.800 was achieved which is far higher than initial expectations. The World Journal of Biological Psychiatry is ranked 31 out of 94 journals in the field of psychiatry (Source: 2005 JCR Science Edition). This is a wonderful result which is primarily due to the editorial policy of including reviews and/or guidelines in every issue of the Journal. The first National Societies’ Presidents Meeting has been held on September 17, 2006 in Paris during the ECNP congress. Over 30 representatives participated in this successful event. The aim was to establish closer relationship and collaboration between the WFSBP and its National Societies. The WFSBP intends to hold further meetings with National Societies’ representatives. The 2nd International Congress of Biological Psychiatry is approaching swiftly. Two successful Planning Meetings have been held in April and December 2006. An interesting Scientific Program with over 40 symposia, 4 plenary lectures, 5 workshops and 3 debates has been compiled. The full program will be available in February 2007 online at www.wfsbp2007.org On behalf of the WFSBP Executive Committee, I wish you and your family all the best for the upcoming holiday and a happy and prosperous New Year 2007 in which I hope to meet you in person at the WFSBP Congress in Chile. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you wish to become more involved in the WFSBP programs. With all my kind seasonal greetings,
Siegfried Kasper |
